Saving Through Subtool Master

When I use Subtool Master to save my tool, sometimes it gives me a Save As dialogue, and sometimes it just saves the tool, overwriting my most recent version. There I can’t figure out what determines whether the Save button in STM gets treated as a Save or a Save As function.

Anyone know?

I think it saves over if you have your TOP subtool selected. But i could be wrong.

It doesn’t matter which subtool you have selected, SubTool Master always goes to the top subtool before saving, returning to your selected subtool after.

If you press the button it will give you a Save As dialog box every time. If you use a hotkey and the mesh has already been saved then the mesh is saved with the same file name (the usual ‘Save’ functionality). You will need to first assign a hotkey for this functionality.

I always use the button, I don’t use a hotkey to save. It’s odd. My theory is that ZBrush looks at the version you last saved and compares it to the version of your tool that you’re trying to save now, and if it doesn’t meet a certain threshold of difference then it just saves over the most recent file.
