Saving textures. (Z Brush 4.0>3D Studio Max 2011)

Hey guys,

Ho do I go from poly painting a model to saving the map and bringing them into 3D Studio Max for rendering? I have figured out how to accomplish this with displacement maps and normal maps but I’m stuck on the texture map issue. Thanks in advance.

John

After you have polypainted your model in Z-Brush, open the “texture Map” feature under the tools tab. Select the new from polypaint button. Then select clone texture. Now under the texture tab, export your texture map.

Or just read the provided online docs.

Hey there Savage,

Thanks for the help. One thing though, the model turns black and it looks like even after I did the process.

How are you exporting your model? I suggest reading the “online Doc’s” for the GO Z application. There are also some very good video tut’s in the z-class room.

Finally, when your in Max, you might try flipping the “normals”

Good luck.

Fill the tool with a matcap then press ‘new from poly paint’. If the material has been edited and only the tool saved, when you re open the tool in zbrush it will be black. Use save material or Save file for this.

The easiest way for all your maps is the ‘GOZ’ button. press that and when 3d max opens, open the ‘material editor’,click on the eye dropper next to the material name and click on the model in the view port. This will open the new shader in the material editer.

This youtube video by Screenwritter805 explains it very well. He also has one on the Multi-map exporter plug in for Zbrush. Enjoy.
