I am still having problems exporting a model with a subtool to Lightwave in Zbrush. I did it once, but did not know how I did it. I want to export or save a obj file or ZTL whichever is the right one and have both model and subtool go with it. I have my model set up with a shirt, but need to save that complete model to save it to work with it in lightwave
Use Merge->Visible with weld off to put everything into one tool (model), select the merged product from your tool pallet, hit polygroups->auto group (to leave “parts” you can select in LW), and export the merged product.

Yes. Merge Visible and Autogroups have been around for a long time.
