I was wondering how you can save your polypaint info so that you can remove it or replace it with a different material and then reapply it at a later time. Any help would be great. Thanks!
you can auto unwrap your mesh and generate a texture map.
tool. UVs
tool. polypaint
You could also use UVMaster to unwrap if you want something more readable by a human.
the simple answer is to make it a texture, but depending on what you want to do, it might not be helpful.
to say “reapply it at a later time” is a bit broad.
the best answer depends on what exactly you want to do. are you going to sculpt further? are you wanting to make a low poly version and transfer the paint to it? things like that.
Thanks for the replies! I wanted to apply a flat material without any color info so I could fix somethings with the sculpt. I was hoping there was a way to save out my polypaint info in a quick file like a project file for example, and just reopen it when I wanted to apply it again after finishing my sculpt. Any thoughts on how to do this the best and easiest way?
All you need to do is turn the polypaint off by clicking the paintbrush icon in the subtool list or unpressing Tool>Polypaint>Colorize. You can then select the color and material you want to work with while you fix your sculpt. When you’ve finished just turn colorize back on and you’ll get your polypaint back.
thanks a lot this fixes my problem!
