Save crash.

Crashed while saving a new file. 3 1/2 hours of in the zone tedious work lost.

Lets get more features! YEEAAAH!

I have found that when this happens, it is because I have been getting in the zone and haven’t saved in some time. I have also found that it happens the most when I try to save really quickly. For instance, the save screen comes up and I hit enter after I type in the name of the tool…this is when it gives me the proverbial middle finger and crashes. I treat Zbrush very gently now. If I’m nice to it, it is usually nice to me…

to avoid the 3hr time crashes there are programs that are egg timers for your computer. I have a UI that dings and flashes “SAVE” every 15min. Do a search for “windows timer” or damn near any variation of that. I use Rock a Dock in case you’re wondering.

Great work, by the way, tyler

hope that helps…well, for the next time anyway.

Also, in the PC version you should not currently use Ctrl+S to save. Use Tool>Save As. Or better yet, use the Save button in Subtool Master.

And make sure you’re not trying to do more than your computer can reasonably handle. It’s better to split your model into multiple SubTools than to subdivide it one too many times and push your RAM usage out of sight.

Aurick: Why is it that it crashes if you use ctrl+S? Perhaps an adjustable auto save function would be a nice plug-in for ZBrush 4…I wouldn’t know where to begin, but that would be a nice tool.

p00psicle: I have also found that if you put your mesh on either the lowest, or a lower poly level that it won’t crash nearly as frequently. I’ll bet if you follow aurick’s instructions, you will probably be best off, but just a suggestion.

Thanks guys!

I did not know about the Ctrl+s problem. I also usually save quite frequently…
