So, the reindeer mesh is done (I think).
Posed him and gave him an expression, I fixed the legs tell me what you think
No details are important because of the fur, only the silhouette matters really.

Next up is texturing and furing(?)!

try filling the subtool with your material again if you’re seeing those artifacts. It’s been happening to me a lot, I think it occurs when you work back and forth in the SubD levels for some reason.

Wow, that was quick!
And it worked, thanks!

Very funny expression! The shape of the legs is a lot better now but theres still something wrong in my opinion. I just dont know what exactly. I think the distance between the front legs is too wide. Look at the hind legs… they look better.
I`m looking forward to seeing the final scene. Does the reindeer belong to the elf? And are you going to model a sleigh? Would be cool to see the elf riding the reindeer.

Moni: Yeah, your probably right, thanks for all the feedback, but I didn’t have time to fix the front leg issue.

So now i finally decided to call this one done. Not really satisfied with the final composition, and how the expression of the reindeer got lost in the fur, but I don’t have time to finish it, after all its a Christmas image, so it has to be done before Christmas
After polypainting the reindeer and added a landscape in Zbrush I exported them to Cinema4D where I added hair, fur, lighting and materials.
I then brought the render into Photoshop to add some smoke.
This is how it turned out:

Please, let me know what you think

Hi, santis

Merry Merry Merry Merry Christmas… To you

I like this Deer…:D;)

So, Christmas is over and so is the making of the Christmas image.
So today I took the time to sculpt a male skull from a sphere, which I’ve been longing to do for awhile, especially since seeing Etchers inspiring Anatomy stuff

And because of all the gingerbread eating that have taken place the last four weeks, I’m giving it away to you guys
Hope it helps someone, critique is appreciated:)

Apparently the ZTL was too big, even in a compressed format. Does anyone know a good way to solve this?

Well, for now here is the OBJ at level 5:
EDIT
When I try to upload the file i get this message after a couple of minutes:

yes remove some of the lower levels and if you make sure all polys are squares they can be redivided to the lower levels… it reduces the size… I think there are other tricks too but cant remember now…

I would love this tool… also happy to help if any retopo needed… thanx!!

Great stuff man, keep up the good work!

earthtriber: Thanks a lot!
Yes, that’s true, and luckily I used the polysphere tool instead of Sphere3D so it’s all quads :+1:
quads.jpg
If you want to retopologise it it would be great!
If you find the time to do it, let me know

Could you(or anyone) also do me another favor?
Try to attach a zipfile and see if it works, it still doesn’t for me :frowning:

meletis: Thanks man!

just quickly what compressor are you using and what message is the upload giving when its not successful?

if you are using rar make sure the zip is pressed on instead of the rar

yup worked fine its a poly-sphere I worked with a bison that was free not so long ago here http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=58735 great thread and great free tool there too…

ok well I grabbed the sphere put it as a saved as on my desktop…

then right clicked on the file add to archive with RAR compression…

make sure the zip button is clicked… change the compression from normal to best… for smaller file… then click ok and the icon with wrapped books appears on the desktop… check that is under 500kb by clicking once on desktop and hovering mouse arrow over the file…

then zbrush has the upload and should be good?

excited to get this was thinking of making a skull crystal to embed in a leather book case… so will tweek and use this fab tool

will search to see if I can find any threads to help sure there must be something in the tutorials or even the zbrush central help section…

ah ha here What are attachments?

good luck

Thanks for taking time to help me

Hmm, now it seems to be working again, but the file is to big even when I’m compressing it as hard as I can.(3.2MB)
The only way to get it to work is to split it up in volumes, but that’s only possible with rar
In this thread Nick attaches rar files, how is that possible?
http://www.pixolator.com/showthread.php?t=61792&page=1&pp=15
Any ideas?

EDIT: I noticed now that a ZTL on level four works if I zip it, so I’ll post that later today if I (or someone else) can’t come up with a solution.
It’s still pretty detailed

that is big…

external upload like using something like megaupload or rapid-share… could do it then post a link here…

the other trick might be to post that and maybe new topo can then be placed on the form and projection can get the detail without the huge file size? I am one of those weirdos who actually enjoys retopo it send me into a zombie like state of calm… lol :o

i noticed they saved each div size like div 1, div 2, div 3 etc. all separately and uploaded those?

What the!?
Now it seems I my 900 kb file is too large!
The maximum is 500 for Zipps, isn’t that images only?
How is that possible?
And when I delete the lower subdivision levels my file gets twice as big!
That doesn’t make sense…
The only sulution I guess is to give away the third level :frowning:

skull_thumbnail.jpg

So, anyway, here it is, a skull to use as reference or for studying or anything in that fashion, and if you use it as it is in a project, please be kind and refer it to me:)

Hey Santis, totally missed your updates because of the Christmas stress.
The shadows are a little too intense but all in all it`s a very nice final scene!
The skull is looking great! Thanks for sharing!

Ha ha i think its fair to say you are the only guy I know how gives away human skulls for Christmas… :o

i will have a crack at the retopo later and will post it back here maybe that can help you get the file smaller…?

it looks brilliant thanks very much!!

Yeah man thank you very much for the gift! Ill definitely use it somewhere! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

heres the re-topo about from 24,500 polys to 17,500 polys detail has been lost but edge flow is better and can be re-projected

and deleting sub-divisions does not seem to work?.. could have sworn that’s what I did before but must be wrong?
