Samurai

The simplest and fastest way of applying a pattern to clothing is to stick it on in Photoshop, that is if your UV layout will permit. This has the advantage of the pattern following the folds in a realistic way.

cool character … well done

Here’s an update. Tried to add a little more of a “Floating World” feel to 'em. I guess ronin is a more accurate description than samurai. Tat is a long ways from being finnished. Still no eyeball txtrs or shader work. Next would be teeth and facial expression.

Revanto, you caught me. I was originally gonna do something more Konohoa inspired. I’ll prbly post the original concept a little latter.

Pigma & -nii- where were you guys when I was doin’ the concepts? jk. The hakama wasn’t too bad. The trick is to tackle the pleats at the Maya phase, or lowest subdivision level. The judogi was the pain. I’ve only seen other animated characters wearing there judogi like this (Geese Howard, Heihachi, Genjuro). So I wasn’t sure how it would look in real life. I ended up modeling his judogi as if he were wearing it. Then I cut off his arms and used Maya nCloth to simulate the rest.

Art-Machine & Rory_L, thanks for the txtr tips. I’m not the brightest when it comes to lighting and rendering, I prbly would’ve forgot about trying ambient occlusion. I’ll definitely have to try adding some cotton grain, sounds pretty straight forward. Thanks again.

As always C&C is always welcome.

-I always bring the sexy:cool:

This is going to be a nice looking model when it is finished.

nice stuff, j lizzle.

I think you might need to check the dimensions/proportions of the forearm,
that is, unless you meant to make it so short (or the bicep is disproportionately long?). Think it needs to be another 1/4-length longer…

Dig the modeling and detail, tho!

WailingMonkey

wow very nice job and anatomy:+1:

oh woww! this is really cool…i love the way you sculpt the torso…it feels really natural…great work man! would love to see more!

-fabian

Great work and very natural pose and gesture :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

He looks fantastic j lizzle,

only the clavicula seems to be too sharp/pointy near the deltoids…
and maybe! a litlle more definition of the top and side(near the spine) of the scapula…(he’s skinny)
and I’m with wailingmonkey about the arm

again beautiful work !

very nice work. model & material is great. :+1:

Simply awesome!

Hi j lizzle.
I present you material as a Japanese.
Be useful for you.

Moreover, rounin is samurai’s kind.
The samurai is a meaning of person who serves a master.
And, the samurai who lost the master is called rounin.
By the way, the samurai doesn’t basically wear jyudougi.
It was usual that they wore kimono and hakama.

A good work making. :+1:

Lets see those wires, si vous plait!

Wow, this is looking really, good. Looking forward to more.

This is really sweet! well done

When i first saw the image i was very impressed the skin on the first page looks really nice. The skin on the lower torso looks amazing. In my own humble opinion maybe bring down the spec on the neck area and on the face or make it more subtle.

-The sculpting is really well done. The only part that looks rushed is the forearm, the shape seems a bit odd.Specially the inner part of it. Seems that it lacks shape. I’m beeing really picky. Over all I envy your skin shader.

good job, excelent!!

wahhh ! TOP ROW !
realy great character very nice and well design.
congrats this is realy a great work.
