Sample Projects for Real-Time NPR

Thought I would share one of the models I completed during the development of ZBrush 2019. This model was done with the new Spotlight SnapShot3D mode.

I also designed and modeled this ship using the Preview>Flat Shadows mode with a Flat Shade Material. I knew that I wanted a final toon look with an outline. It was great to just work with the model in real-time as I built with out having to worry about it looking different when I rendered.

I experimented with a couple of materials but I ended up using FlatShade01.

Here is a project with all 5 materials and with the settings I used to render all of these images. Feel free to download and experiment.

Here is what all of the materials look like on a sphere in the attached project.

This is excellent!
Thanks Paul.

Thanks! This couldn’t come at a better time as I’ve been neck deep in experimenting with the new render settings and materials all weekend and it will be super helpful to reverse engineer this project and get some insight into things I don’t understand to get some breakthroughs! I like figuring things out on my own just as much as the next guy but flipping blend mode layers on grey value adjustments one by one millions of times just to see how things interact is making my brain melt and i need guidance lol. Lifesaver right now for sure since this is all just now coming down on us and a major help!

Thanks for sharing, Paul! Love the design with the elongated shapes! :+1:

Thank you Escape and MetinSeven

I’m happy to help Extra Dimensional. Just let me know what you need.

Hey All,

Here are some additional Materials I created for for viewing the models in realtime as well. These are using the new mixer outline and material cavity color like Paul’s above.

Feel free to download this ZBrush project file and use =)
