same on both sides

Im currently working on a character I’ve made in max. Im gonna paint some details on it and make a normalmap.
How do I paint the same details on both sides of my character at the same time? (I’ve seen it done before, but cant remeber how)

There is only one way I know of and that is to make a new texture, turn off zadd, and have just RGB enabled. Just as you would work with symetry for sculpturing, you can now just paint colour in full 3d. The dissadvantage of doing this is that you cant undo it, but you can simply drag from the colour picker the original colour off the model and erase parts out, before going to the next step.

When you done, go to the texture sub menu found in the tools menu, and press (Fix seam) button. Your texturing will now be applied to the texture map.

This method relys on a high poly count to get a high detail texture paint. You can use stencils in full 3d, as well using this method combined with Zadd or Zsub.

Another way around this is to texture one half of your model, take it into photoshop, and copy and rotate the other half over, this would be asuming your model is symetrical though.

I meant how kan i skulpt the same on both sides, kinda like symmetry in max. (sorry if i didn’t explaine it right the first time:p)

Press X, Y or Z. This will activate symetry acording to which you press, you can have them all at once. I normaly always work in X sym.
