S.O.S. Merging together large portions of the same mesh?

Hello again,

Could anyone please advise me with this? Say I make an image prom a plain (like the one below), and I want to make it into a closed mesh (a whole head) - what would the best way, except staring over from a sphere of course :laughing:small_orange_diamond:+1:
I’ve tried retopologizing the back, just connecting the zspheres of the borders of the plain with each other (the left portion of the image below). I also thought of making another separate subtool and merging it with thi one, but I wonder would the polycount ever be the same?

So…what you think is the best way to do it?

Thanks for your trouble, immensly grateful!

Actually a sphere isn’t a bad way to go. Grab a sphere, make it a polymesh3d, and append your face as a subtool of the PM3D sphere. Then, with both subtools visible and your sphere as the active subtool, use the ZProject brush to bring your face shapes onto the sphere.

Thank you very much sir! :+1:

Zproject works great, just I am blocking in instead (http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Tutorial:ZProject_and_SubTools :D). I’m having so much trouble modeling a face from a sphere so this is just terrefic! I’ll do it from a cube next time though, save me the trouble

Thanks again, now I can finish my characters for the secret agent contest!
