Ryan's ZBrush Sketchbook (Maddam's Standard brush - added page 6)

The dead surface trap is only a trap for those who are not on the highest level. The same exists in painting. Just look at how Ingres got his portaits more real that a photograph (hint: two eyes do not see the same thing). Go to Orsay and look at Canova, Thorwaldsen,…
Or read some poetry and feel the difference between Shelley’s high Romanticism and Tennysson’s weak sentimentalism…

It’s the artist, not the style.

BTW: thanks for the brush and even more for explaining how yoiu got the idea, why you needed it and how you created it. That’s a full meal with the brush as dessert!

Ah music to my ears! I would love to see your experiments with the brush and workflow. Feel free to post images in this thread or a link to them. Thanks for sharing. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Ryan

Hey ryan, just wanted to chime in and say how much I’m enjoying your work with gnomonology. It’s super cool and the blog has some nice extra info about the tutorials and artists - I wasn’t sure about buying Jeff McAteer’s but seeing your little youtube vid on it covinced me.

Hope there’s more to come from yourself and others!

While I was in Copenhagen, I worked on a portrait of H.C. Andersen, the Danish author. I used reference from Google and Flickr to sculpt from and recorded the process for a Gnomonology tutorial.

Here is a character sheet of the model:

So you didn’t really have to be in Copenhagen to model H.C. (Google ref)
BTW…The Gnomon site is still giving me no-load, slow-load and the above brush link is giving me instant crash of Firefox…

Hey Pride, I absolutely had to be in copenhagen to do an HC Andersen portrait! He just didn’t have to be there with me.

As for the problems at Gnomonology, do you have the latest firefox? Also, did you contact Gnomonology? They would be better suited to helping you out than I can do at a ZBrush forum.

Ryan

looking good, ryan.

is that female torso piece you are sculpting with the rasp brush going to appear on gnomonology?

Great work, and…bought!

Now please give me the time to watch them before you come up with a next tempting set of videos. LOL.

As for Firefox: this reminds me of how FF portable edition behaves. With that too I had several crashes when the page contained multiple files (flash movies, active content etc.)

I now surf with the last version of FF2, being 2.014.

I tried 3 but went back to 2 because of the “intelligent” behaviour of the dropdown list. In short: it’s unusable and they state it will “learn” from your surf behaviour what you usually visit. Example: instead of this forum, you get a n endless list of all the threads you have visited and perhaps the main forum link is somewhere in that chaos.

With 2.014 I have no problems with Gnomonology. You’re shure you jhaven’t accidently set G. to not display or so?
You can easily reinstall FF, but as the settings remain, I’d say: back up your bookmarks, see you have ALL your passwords and then delete all FF reference before you install.

This said: have you tried Opera? It’s super fast and it’s very well designed.

I positioned the hands the other day. Now I just have to get the anatomy of the right arm correct and merge the hands. I like this process of doing the hands separately. Gives me more freedom to work without care for topology.

mdale13 - probably. I didn’t record the sculpting process though as i find it slightly inhibiting sometimes.

Erik - So you’re the one! Thanks for purchasing and the firefox help. :slight_smile:CharacterStrip_39.jpg

Hola,

Thank you for your teachings, I like a lot your way to give the classes. And thank you for Dam_standard brushes and for Rasp brush. Please, it would be possible to also obtain the paintbrushes of sculpting: Dam_Clay and Dam_Flat, Clay2Screen and ClayTubesSoft? Are they in some part of the forum?

… Ryan, I usually visit your space en:http://www.pixologic.com/blogs/ryan / and I like all your teachings a lot. (I don’t speak English, sorry). A greeting and thank you for everything and thank you for the paintbrushes to sculpt that I request you, if it is that you can give them.

I have created a new and free topology tutorial for dealing with topology from a sculptor’s perspective. In the process I couldn’t help venting alittle!
