I’m working on a laptop so I have never really done any detailing using alphas because my laptop can’t handle it well with full body figures which is what I’ve made up until now, but now I’ve got a medeival armor made of a lot of subtools and I wish to add an old look to it, scratches and rust.
I have got several rusty alphas that I wish to paint on top of the armor but unlike with skin I want to keep the hard look to the armor. How do I paint fine details on top of an armor that I want to keep looking quite flat, with the standard brush you make bumps in the armor and if you use the layers brush you get a clear edge at the end of the alpha.
So yeah how to add detail to a hard surface without displacing the surface too much? Same goes for skin I guess.
