Hey guys,
I’ve been struggling to recreate two effects in ZBrush 3.1 - first is a rough wood texture (the kind of wood your old garden rake’s handle is made of, and would give you a mean splinter) and the second is a scratched, beat up metallic surface - again, something you’d find buried in the darkest recesses of the garden shed.
I’ve had mixed results with the wood (still nothing I’m happy with), but the metal has proven far more difficult to achieve. I think the subtlety of the surface texture, plus my lack of in-depth knowledge of the appropriate method for scratching the object itself is what’s holding me back from attaining a better result.
I’ve tried using the alphas that come with the app, plus a few from the Alpha Library, but I’m still struggling to achieve a realistic result. Does anyone have any suggestions / tips / links / ideas?
I’ll post some screenshots when I can, but I’m away from my files right now. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
