Rough edge, res problem.

pic1.jpg Hi there,

I’ve been working on a base mesh that I imported into Z3, and am now ready to do some fine sculpting. The problem is that whenever I zoom in to the mesh, I get what looks like a bad resolution. Even when I go into projection master. I’ve got a subD level of five = 1.5 mil polys. I’m new to Zbrush and have looked at the tutorials ect but can’t seem to find an answer. Any help would be great.

Another thing…why does it take so long for my post to show in the forums? I seem to have to wait a day or so before I get a reply.

Cheers.

Try to zoom in your object with pressing Alt, clicking in the empty area with your mouse and start draging the mouse. This is the default way to zoom in an object in ZB. What you are doing probably is that you are trying to zoom in by pressing + or - keys, which in ZB will zoom in or out your whole document (and than ZB works like PhotoShop, where when you zoom in the picture you get pixalation, or rough edges).

Usefull hint:
When you zoom in your whole document (+ key) to be bigger than your working area you’ll see something like surrounding border (safe frame) around your document. Inside that area you can drag your mouse to rotate, zoom in or out your object, scale etc without fear that you will do some deformation at the same time.

Got it! Thanks pajonate! Sometimes the most simple things are the hardest to find:)
