Rotating a head at the end of my sculpt

Hello, apologies if it isn’t the right place to ask this.

I have a sculpt of a bust that I made, I have finish the high poly and low poly, uv… all I need is now to export it to my texturing program and bake.

However I realise that the head could do with a slight rotation, is there a way to rotate only the part of my head slightly to one side ? Is it possible to rotate both my high and low poly ? Would that mess something up ?

My head is multiple polygroups and the bust is another (with a split at the neck)

In the past I would mask the area, rotate it, and smooth the edge where it was masked and hope for the best. I’m sure there is another way though

Thanks !

Hello @efwfew,

Welcome to ZBC!

To affect only part of of an active subtool with an operation, you would use Masking (mask the portions you don’t want to be affected) or Visibility (hide the parts you don’t want to be affected) to control what is rotated. Polygroups can be very helpful with both, because once you have polygroups you can quickly hide or mask them.

If the high poly is a subdivision level of the low poly mesh, this is very easy. Simply rotate the low poly base level geometry which is much easier to pose than the high res mesh, and the pose will update to the higher subdivision levels when you switch to them, with the high rez detail still intact.

In fact, there is a plugin called Transpose Master that can let you create a new, merged version of multiple subtools with multiple levels of subdivision at the lowest subdivision level, which can then be posed as a single piece. The changes can then be sent back to all the individual subtools at their highest levels of subdivision.

Transpose master worked perfectly. Thanks !
