rotate question. . . please help

I was curious how the rotate tool works exactly. . . . say I bring in a t-posed humanoid and want to pose it in zbrush. . . . I click on rotate and nothing happens. . . . .move and scale work as I would predict. . . . . I want to be able to paint with the the rotation tool or simply select a limb and rotate it for posing purposes. . . .I know this seems simple but I’m not sure how the rotate tool was designed to work what am I doing wrong?

Thanks Tom

:large_orange_diamond: Edit mode : key “T”
:large_orange_diamond: Select the parts you want rotate : key Ctrl + moving mouse
:large_orange_diamond: Inverse selection : menu Tools/ Modifiers / Selection / Inverse
:large_orange_diamond: Menu Tools/ Modifiers / Defomation / Rotation XYZ
And see the result on the preview window …
Have fun! :sunglasses:

Thanks Frenchy. . . . I’ll try that.

As Frenchy said, except you need to set a Pivot Point for the Tool : Deformation : Rotate.

To set the Pivot Point I use the visibility controls (hiding/unhiding) and use the Set Pivot Point button (Shortcut ‘p’). Clear the pivot point after rotating with the Clear Pivot Point Button (Shortcut ‘Shift+p’).

There was a similar thread a while ago where I posted a zscript showing how it is done. Rotate points on a mesh.

I hope Edit mode rotation is implemented in the next version of Zbrush. Edit mode rotation that respects masking and the Focal Shift would be very nice.

thanks for the tip tveyes. . . I’ll check your script out. . . . .I’m glad to know it is possible. . . .I’d love to have some poseable armature like zspheres for meshes that you bring in from an outside program. . . .that would be so useful. . .maybe the next version.

Thanks again

Tom
