Rodrigo Gonçalves - Works

ta lindo isso!

Thanks so much guys! I’m happy you liked it!

Ah! This was my favorite one of the gargoyles. Love his expression and the bright eyes. Really cool job!

Thanks charlieThor! I’m glad you liked! It was really fun sculpt him!

Great work on this little gargoyle. I was a big fan of the original show and you captured the character perfectly.

Could you please tell me how you created the single UV set for all your models? I assume this was created from more than one subtool?

Loving it, good job!

Thanks mr.BananaS and willtheloon! I’m glad you liked it!

@willtheloon, here is about the UV workflows I used. Hope that helps. Cheers! :+1:

I could created one UV set for entire model, but in this case, as I would like more resolution for rendering, I created 4 UVs for some subtools groups:
1 UV for the body 4k resolution,
1 UV for the eyes 2k,
1 UV for the belt and wings 4k,
1 UV for the cloth 2k.

You can create UVs in a couples of ways, here a workflow that I know at the moment with Zbrush:

Another 3d software
With “GoZ plugin” send all the parts to any 3d software that you like to create your UVs sets and bring the models (with UV ready) back to Zbrush using GoZ. Or import/export OBJ manually.

Here a great plugin GoZ for UVLayout
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?165443-GoUVLayout-GoZ-for-UVLayout

Or crate UVs with Zbrush and export maps.

If you want more than one subtools to share the same space UV, you can do this in Zbrush before you use UV Master:

1- Merge the subtools:
Before merge them, make sure the subtools have the same amount of subdivisions levels and are in highest subdivision levels too when merging them. e.g.: The cloth and the belt both have 4 subdivision levels.
That way, I can still have all the subdivision levels for each subtool if I need to seperate the models in different subtools later on.

2- Apply “UV Master” plugin to selected subtool. The models will share the same UV space.

3- Split the models parts in different subtools. You can do this in diffenrent ways under Tool>Split panel.

4- Polypaint.

5- Extract the maps:
I used “Multi Map Exporter” to extratc all the maps for each subtool. Here a good video how to use this pligin in case you need.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Hi,

when I saw your take on Lexington, I couldn´t stop myself from using this Ryan Lang guys’s concept art as a rerence, too. I´ve been working on a Demona model for no particular reason for quite a while and when I saw your cute little Lex, I gave Demona a sex change and turned her into what hopefully resembles Langs version of Brooklyn as well as yours of Lexington. Thanks for telling me about this guy, his work is amazing and you do it justice. It took me 3 days to finish Brooklyn, how long did it take you to make Lexington? Maybe we can exchange our models, just a thought. I’d love to build a collection.

Well done Rodrigo. Ryan’s character studies are wonderful and I think you did a great job retaining the graphic sensibilities of the forms and silhouette.

Thanks for detailed explanation of the UV layout Rodrigo, much appreciated

good work

thank you so much for the explanations and visual captures!

Very nice work

Thanks everyone for the comments! I’m glad you guys liked it!

Hi everyone!
An update of “Shadow Moon” Fan Art realtime model I did in 2013. Total tris: 22.018. Modeled most with Zbrush.

I needed to study shaders setups with Marmoset Toolbag 2 and this was good time to do a better render image with this guy.

Hi everyone!

A quick cartoon sketch 3D with Zbrush. Trying to achieve some cartoon’s likeness and have some fun with it.
I added a small paint-over to add the upper teeth that I missed while I was sculpting. :stuck_out_tongue:

Based on the concept art of Tony Neto.
