Gentlemen, place your bets: Shockblade will shock us with creepy modeling vs shock us with somewhat-kinda-less-scary modeling.
don’t bother, shockblades superior knowledge of anatomy will allow him to create perfect models without the need for reference…
His ability to sculpt hands far surpasses everyone at ZBrush Central… COMBINED
- Open Zbrush by double clicking icon
- Load any tool(I know its the same tool you have used for almost a year now, DONT USE THAT ONE)
- Click and Drag across screen
- Press “T” to edit
- Scribble away
- Profit
He could try using the base mesh I so graciously provided a couple of months ago that he has yet to use. In all honesty, I’d still really like to see how Shockblade could do by starting with something that already has correct proportions.
Please just humor me Shockblade.
It’s actually a really good base mesh…I’ve used it for a couple of things myself and have gotten good results…
Cool. Have you posted anything you used it for? I wouldn’t mind seeing the results.
If you check my sketchbook link in my sig, the three heads in there (Aaron Rodgers, Harrison Ford and Dianna Agron) were all done from your base
Nice work. The mesh seems to sculpt well and hold the details. Glad to see it’s getting some use.
just read entire thread.
Thanks for the base mesh DarkMessiah
Hey Dark Messiah, your base mesh seemed really good. I hope you don’t mind me using it. I’ll send you a message when I’ve done something with it. Thanks.
As for shock blade. You need to follow the rules of drawing and sculpting a realistic figure. Look around for books on silhouette, anatomy and proportion. If you can’t afford it, i’m sure you could go on youtube and find all the same information Let’s see some progress!
I also think a full human is too difficult for you at this stage. Off the top of my head I couldn’t say how many anatomical markers there are. But you’re really making it difficult for yourself to digest all the information by doing so. Start with something small and work your way up.
For example, Get a reference picture of someones head and erase everything but the area around the eyes and nose and try to sculpt it. You’ll start noticing subtle things like the eyes are an eye length apart and that the eye is asymmetrical. That means…there is structure. Follow the rules, and memorize them. If there were no rules there would be chaos. Make sure you use reference and sculpt all angles.
One thing i wanna make clear is i havent bin useing the same model the entire time, each one is a newer project then its predesessors.I have practiced for some time if its not your cup of tee move to the next dont comment.
On a positive note glad everyone likes the model that was put up for download. This current character i worked on was something i did some time ago,i returnd to it to fix it up and finalize a bit it may not be extremely perfect but if some things need retouching feel free to crit and give tips.

My dear Shockblade,
I cant believe my eyes:eek:, you really improved a lot, now its totaly my cup of…tea…tee? This time your model is extremly perfect and it is well visible that you understood all the advice people gave you. You have a very good eye for proportions and you handmodelling is now near perfect, I just had to check my own hand and it looked exactly like the one in your “work”. Good is also the pose of your…Robowarriorwoman…hand…thingthingy, looks as if shot right from the front and about to fall backward…a lot of dynamic…thingy in there.
well done, u rock dude
this can only end well…
Watch some tutorials by Ryan Kingslien on Youtube, especially the one with his Thor maquette. You really need to learn how to sculpt form and proportion (need I include anatomy with those two?)… Don’t worry about any… ANY details for the next post. Let’s just see some practiced anatomy. Give us rough sketches! Don’t …”perfect”… anything! Just show us some practice images on the human figure!!
thank you verry much and ill check out the youtube video.
Dear Shockblade! You inspire me!
I started working on this character, but I felt something was wrong with it.
And then I found your amazing thread. I thought: “Hmm, my character is at a very early stage, so it’s a good time to change the style!” - and so I did!
Here are the results; the one on the left is what I had done wrong, and the one on the right is after correcting things.

Shockblade, my dear friend, you’ve invented a new art style, which I will call Shockbladism!
Some more shots of the corrected version, for your pleasure:

Note that in the last screenshot I used the angle which shows Shockbladism from its best side.
Now, I know it’s not perfect, but I’m sure I’m very close to perfection!
Thank you, Shockblade!

I prefer how the model was before, it has a lot more character to it
