I have some new stuff coming soon but I have to spend all my time on the stuff I get paid to do! Drat! Oh well. Hope you like the DVD I really enjoyed making it.

I’ll probably be working on this movie until they pry the wacom pen from my cold dead hands. Its a labor of love. All modeling done in ZBrush. Animated in Maya and rendered in Maya/VRay. Compositing done in Nuke. The music is an original composition created for the project by my taleneted brother who goes by Secular Mechanism. Aside from nature itself the biggest inspiration comes from stop motion animation of people like The Brothers Quay.

I finally finished the ant thing I created for the demo I did last summer at the Hollywood ZBrush User Group meeting. here are some renders created in V-Ray. I aldo created an animation test:

This is the “Thalian Bee”. Modeled in ZBrush and rendered in VRay for Maya.thalianBee_fullRender01.jpgthalianBee_fullRender02.jpgthalianBee_fullRender03.jpgthalianBee_fullRender04.jpgthalianBee_fullRender05.jpgthalianBee_fullRender06.jpg

These gals are still a work in progress, have to add hair and the fire ant still needs a stinger but work may keep me occupied for a while so I thought I would post them since I’m not sure when I’ll get back to them.bulldogAnt_render_10.jpgbulldogAnt_render_09.jpgbulldogAnt_render_08.jpgsolenopsisInvicta_wip_03.jpgsolenopsisInvicta_wip_02.jpgsolenopsisInvicta_wip_01.jpg

I created an animation using the wasp model featured in my recent Gnomon DVD. Not pefect but I like it. My brother Neal helped out with the sound. Let’s see if this link to my vimeo page will work:

Sorry those leafcutter images came out way too saturated, I did somethign stupid when converting to JPEG. Computers drive me nuts. These are better…

Man these are fantastic , great sculpt…i love insects amazing creatures :+1:

beautiful.

awesome XD

what’s your setting for render? you used BPR right?

Gaaah, I love these. Nice execution!

I love BPR but the ants are actually mental ray (straight renders no post process other than minor color tweaks) and the “thalian bee” is V-Ray (again no post process, not that I have anything against post-render tweaks, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet)

All textures are poly painted though, that’s pure ZBrush! I’ll post some of my ZBrush screenshots later today when I get a chance.
