Dear Eric,
How can i cantact you directly? Maybe i have already? Anyway I’m a scientist by trade longing to get into 3D animation.
I would like to thank you for all of your inspiration.
Cheers
Drew

I’m working on developing more macro-photography style renders using ZBrush and mental ray (I use V-ray as well in my work but my V-ray license is currently preoccupied with another project). Here are some images of Eudorylas AKA a big head fly. I’ve included screenshots of the Maya set up. The head was actually decimated because I wasn’t happy with the results I was getting with displacement. Hair is all Maya paint Effects, All models including the twig-thing are ZBrush. The DOF is in-camera mental ray, A little grainy, may revisit this and tweak later on if I have time.

Hey Eric! Huge inspiration and I’ve learned a lot from your work over the years. Awesome job on this little fly, the realism is insane!

Thanks so much! Finally getting mental ray to do what I want!

Some stuff I have been working on for fun. Here is my Golden Orb Weaver spider modeled and painted in ZBrush, rendered in Modo:

Here is a link to a short animation test I did. I animated it in Maya and sent to Modo via Alembic, rendered in Modo…

Been working on this for a long time. Wasp and Cactus all modeled and painted in ZBrush/Photoshop. Animated in Maya and rendered in Maya+VRay

Here is a link to the animation. The wasp appears in the second part (first part I did a while back, my little space bug…)

wow this is perfect

what can i say?? All of them have insane details.thanks for sharing.

My respect! Insects have you made incredible. I have no patience for such detailed work. It is amazing and mysterious.

Coming from the master of ZBrush detailing I say your comment is quite the compliment! Love the Giegeresque stuff in your gallery!

Great work Eric. Those animations must have been quite a challenge. I love what you do.

Purchased your Hyper Real Insect tutorial a while back - very good class. Cheers.

Some images I created for the 4R7 Beta, I know you all LOVE spiders!!

Rendered in Keyshot. The fibers look great in Keyshot!!

Really cool renders!

Here’s a house and tree made entirely in ZBrush (rendered in Keyshot).

Here’s a jumper, rendered in mental ray and Maya. All models are ZBrush and textures were polypainted in ZBrush (fur is Maya + Paint Effects).

Really great work, so detailled!
I was sceptical about fibers in Keyshot but it looks amazing.

Awesome Insect and Spider study!!
Look very real

Awesome !!

Very nice, particularly the plantlife. Can you tell us more about the process involved in the plantlife on the house?
