Richard's Sculpture Thread

Here is a rough stage of my female sculpt.
Still much to do on this one, I’m looking for pointers and input on things that I may be missing, any input would be helpful, thanks!

The upper torso is looking very natural so congrats. The legs are proportionally too long but particularly from the knee down and the feet are far too large but also the hands look too small. The neck also looks a little long too, even for a slender woman.

Hope that helps a little - keep it up!

Jon

thanks for the pointers Jon!
you know how it is when you look at something too long, you begin to lose perspective. Its great to be able to get a fresh pair of eyes to point out the issues that are staring you right in the face an yet have gone unnoticed.
thanks again bud!

Hi Richard ,

really like this model , it’s very organic .

I agree with Jons , about the neck , but is a minor detail .

good work !

I’m just getting started playing around with the new ZSketch feature.
Here are a few concepts that I have come up with recently. Crits and comments are welcome as always!

Your creature designs are very imaginative. In particular, the Zsphere sculpts are very frightening. Good job!

Wow…what a great use of ZSketch!

Here is yet another WIP on my female character that Ive been working on between breaks in playing around with all the new ZBrush 3.5 features.
There is still quite a bit of work to put in, but I think I’m on the right track.
Crit it up!

Hey Richard,
you got some nice things happening here. the areas I would go over again are the ankles and feet. they need a little more tone, same with the forearms and hands, some of your fingers are little long. I think the head could sit a little further forward making the neck a little more of an angle titled forward. Looks like the arms maybe a little short too and you could look into widening her hips a bit make her a little more feminine. well good luck hope that helped.

Here is a female bust that I’m putting together right now.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thats a very good base you have here, I would make the jaw thinner, move it a bit higher, make the mouth a bit smaller, and close it maybe?
Reduce the skull and make it a bit rounder, tweak slightly the eyes sahpe, they might be a bit big, and a bit of quick eye paint, with a ncie glass shader would add life to your model.

Keep it up!

haha Sebcesoir, jeah but then you dont have natalie portman no more…

thank you O/MI, Natalie Portman was the inspiration for this bust. maybe it needs more work before that is clearly apparent? any pointers would be very helpful!

I could tell it was Natalie Portman straight away. My only crit is that the helix of her ear looks a bit flat. Sebastien’s changes are all great advice, but only if you’re going for a more generic attractive female face. If you’re trying to make a bust of Portman, then stay true to your reference material.
