I´ve been trying several times to resize
z-brush to fit my screen
I adjust the size and tools and go to config -store config
and it saves the tools but not the size of the program
it´s a bit annoying to have to resize it every time I open it…that´s a lot of times every day…O))
any ideas am I doing something wrong
or am I missing something
you can hit your + key or - key
thats the only way i know of i think its more of a zoom option then a canvas size.
hey dragonlady i thinking that you have to adjust your computer settings try this set your monitor at 1024768 or 1152864 this will make your destop really small but you can adjust it once your done.i think i read somewhere in the quicklinks that zbrush has to be ran in 1024*768 in order to view it better…not sure about that…
also you can manually adjust your monitor with your monitor buttons. or make all your zbrush items a icon and only pull down the ones you want to work on… hope this helps…
i have a dual monitor setup…1024x768 x2= 2048x768. my problem is the same…i still have to resize because the zbrush window can reach to only half of the 2nd screen…but somehow “thinks” it reaches the full length cuz that extra space is actually a snapshot of the desktop that wont refresh in the zbrush window…grrr…so i still have to resize the window everytime…
the way he desribed it i thought he was talking “canvas size” not monitor size…
look on the bottom right of YOUR screen and look were my curser is pointing to.
put the check mark were i have mine.

I do run it in 1024 -768
and it actually fits
however it hides the taskbar at the bottom and that makes it difficult to open
the tutorials
I adjust the size just above the taskbar
I thought it would store that in config also
Sorry if I don´t make it clear what I mean sometimes
english is not my native language…
Hi Dragonlady,
It sounds like your monitor may be set up incorrectly. Please try using a Zoom or V-Size type setting on your monitor to center the picture on your monitor better so you can see the bottom of the ZBrush program.
Could you send me a screen shot that shows how some of the program is hidden.
If you are using windows you can take a screen shot by pressing ‘Print Screen’ on your keyboard, then open Windows Paint and press ‘Paste’.
You can send the screen shot to me at:
Thanks,

Hi Dragon Lady.
ZBrush is meant to cover the taskbar evertime you boot-up, and you can not save the size of the ZBrush window in the preferances. If you have a HTML tutorial open on another screen, press the CTRL & TAB to open a little popup that will show you what programs and folders you have open. Use the keyboard-arrow keys to select the document you want but it should jump to the last used document.
Give it a try, otherwise use the printer.

Hi ZuZu,
I think Dragonlady is referring to the fact that ZBrush does not cooperate with the Windows taskbar. Whether you have the taskbar in hide mode or not, ZBrush does not allow it to be seen, except by unmaximizing ZBrush and resizing the ZBrush window so that it leaves the taskbar uncovered.
Hope this clears up the communications.

you clicked the “restore” on the top “right” of your screen which re size’s the window smaller and if you click it again it restore to full screen and hides your task bar…
correct?
and then you tryed to use zbrush “restore configuration”.
your talking about 2 differnt kind of restore options. i think
and your trying to use the button in the task bar to read your tutorials.
only way i know of is half screen then use the task bar OR why dont you copy the text and save it as a TXT file and import it into zbrush and read it in there .
You can set it so Windows always has the task bar open. I have it set like that, so maybe that’s why I didn’t understand you…
Here’s how you do it:
-
Right-click on some blank grey space on your task bar, then click Properties.
-
Put a check mark under ‘always on top’.
That should fix it! You should always have your start menu while in ZBrush from now on.
Also - Storing the size and placement of the ZBrush window in the config file is on the future features list.

Hi ZuZu,
I don’t think that works with 1.23b Demo version.
I’ve always had my task bar set to ‘always on top’, but ZBrush always covers it. Resizing the ZBrush window is the only workaround I know of.
Thanks,
Jay
Hitting the ALT & TAB key is the way to go, then keep hitting it until you reach the program you want active and in front. After the first time, it brings that program to the head of the list so that you are only one ALT&TAB away from the program you wish to switch back and forth from.
To get to your Start Button, most keyboards nowadays have the little Windows button on them.
Hope that helps.
I think Upham mentioned this before but he alluded to the Cntrl&ALT key combination, not sure but I think he meant Cntrl&ALT&DEL which brings up the Task Manager from which you can also select a running program from. But AlT&TAB is the best
Jay,
This works for me with the 1.23b demo. I am able to have the task bar and ZBrush open at the same-time. What version of windows are you using?
-ZuZu
Hi ZuZu . . .
Just a quick note . . . I’m running Windows 98SE, & I have “always on top” checked, but I’ve never seen my task bar from within ZBrush.
Have a good one . . .
Mark.
I’m also running windows 98SE… I wonder why there is an inconsistancy here. Have you gotten all of your ‘Windows Updates’? Maybe it was in one of those…
-ZuZu
Hi ZuZu,
NT 4 SP6 or so at work, and W98SE at home.
Jay
yes I did mean windows taskbar
and ZuZu I do have it “always on top”
also tried "autohide"to see if it would pop up I´m using win2000 pro mainly
(haven´t tried it in w-98 yet)
the shortcuts work I´m lousy at windows keyboard shortcuts
because of my lousy memory…O))
I didn´t really mean to compalin
only thought I might be doing something wrong when storing config…
Anyway it would be a nice feature
thanks all for the help
