Revised Balrog (Bison)!!!

Awesome job!!! Everything looks great. I was wondering if the “KING” logo on the the right shoe is supposed to be flipped?

i think the shader is fine for now. But if it were me i would think about revisiting the cloth before moving ahead. They seem arbitrary. Like you just sculpted what you thought they were supposed to look like, rather than looking at the reference you posted. The reference you have has more vertical folds. The shorts bulge out before they hit the waist. The cloth of the shirt would collect towards the waistband, rather than the middle of the stomach like you have it.

His head is looking good, i think you just need more reference. and have to put the same care into the body that you put into the head.

Have a good one dude. i’ll be waitin for an update.

I love it because you’ve combined an almost realism with a unique artistic style…very cool indeed.

What is the matcap which you have used to render? thanks.

Hey man, great work! The shader looks good, but the folds are the folds of a much heavier fabric than boxing shorts and tank tops are usually (just eyeballing it I’d say it’d be very hot to workout in!). Notice the thinner folds and micro-wrinkle pattern on the photo that cause it to look thinner. Awesome work dude!

Thanks guys for the comments. I will admit I modeled the wrinkles from a cotton tank top. To tell you the truth I really just want to finish this and get it out the way. Since everyone agrees about the wrinkles I might change it.

I am loving the clothes, the materials look very convincing.

One comment, on the upper arm where the muscle meets the lats, the suilloette looks a little off, (I think it’s the triceps I am seeing from behind)

Like i said before, this is the best Balrog I’ve seen. :grimacing: :+1:

InkySpot- thanks, I might tweak that.

antsin3d-Thanks, I wanted the material for the clothing to be slightly heavier than the norm, but still durable for fighting. I posted some of the reference I used for the top and shorts

arabas-it’s a screen shot from max

G-Dub-thanks

jjvdb15-thanks man for the advice, I remodeled the tank top. The previous reference was wrong, I think it was the wrong material for the top

Cordycep- I think you are right.

I’m almost done texturing Balrog. I’m still not happy with the specular map on the body and the logos need reprojecting. After I’m done fixing those problems, I’ll apply some dirt maps for his clothing and hdr.

i said it before but maybe yah didnt notice dude, but the clothes need toning down a little. thats jus my opinion, im surprised no-one else has spotted it, other than that i think its cooooool!
:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

This will be his new pose, I plan on fixing his arms since they stretched in the pose. I’m almost finished with his hair too, I’ll post some pictures later

Awesome pose, but I think his shoulders are way too big. Look at the side profile and look at how much wider his side and rear delts are. Also, his clavicle should be wider, because his clavicles look really close together. I really, really like the quad anatomy and the facial expression. I also think his forearms, which i think is the brachioradialis should be accentuated more

Just to offer a dissenting opinion, I really like how stylized the exaggerated shoulders are.

The fore-arms I’d agree with though but overall, looks great!

thanks guys for the comments. I tried to push the proportions more in this pose, make it more animated like the game. I do agree with the forearms , I’ll push the muscles more.

Sorry guys for taking so long, but my hands been hurting lately from modeling. Here’s a quick update, there’s still many things to fix. Next update I will have a spec map 2 on the body, fix the hair and other minor things.

Daaaamn! Nice work. REally great nylon rendering.

Looking good. I like the pose. The exaggerated shoulders don’t bother me. Its meant to be cartoony and its looking good so far.

Scrybe-thanks, I still need to fix some of the wrinkles since I posed him.

K_sakamoto- thanks, I really wanted to push the proportions over the top with balrog.

Hey Guys, I’m almost done with Balrog. I redid the wrinkles in his clothing, I tried to pay close attention to each fold. I need to rework the shader for the chain, I think a darker color and a reflection map will make it stand out more. I might put the chain in a swinging motion to the side of his body. After I’m done with that I’ll find a camera angle I like the best. I should be done in a couple of days.:+1:
