Retopology Twitching

When I’m using the zsphere retopologizing method it has a strange habit of selecting and deleting random vertices on completely different sections of the mesh while I’m trying to delete those in a completely different section. The result is that if I delete a section of the topology manually I will zoom out and realize a hole has opened elsewhere on the mesh. It’s really frustrating and makes it hard to forget the limitations of the zsphere topology tool.

*It has nothing to do with selecting through the mesh as they aren’t at all lined up.
*It almost seems to follow a vertex order as it seems to always delete the same vertex first, then proceed in a line to nearby vertices.
*It will almost always temporarily highlights the next vertice in this order even though it will only delete it every few clicks and doesn’t seem to interfere with which vertex is actually selected.

Another problem I have is that it will occasionally create each new point masked out so that, when I switch between moving and placing, I have to deselect everything just to move it (without a mask color you can’t tell). Fortunately the method is still fast enough to be worth going through.

I’m using 4R4 on my macbook running OS 10.7 (Lion).
