retopology and adaptive skinning issues

I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong, but I retopologize this plane model I have and when I hit create adaptive skinning after I lay out my new topology, the new model has holes in it:

zbrush can’t do a 4 sided extrusion. you need to have at least 5 edges to do what you want.

for a sec there i thought i might have to do a very complicated work around… now all i know is to add more edges, which is easy enough. thanks!
