Retopologizing issue

Hey guys! I am having an issue when retopologizing my mesh. All has been going well (although it is chugging like a beast… if theres a way to help deal with that while im retopologizing that would be wonderful as well… lol) but when I started to move some of the points that I already created around… I realized that some of them did not merge correctly, meaning that there were points duplicated on top of eachother and when I moved a point, there was another left behind. Usually I wouldnt mind and just continue to retopologize and then merge them in maya, however Im planning on using UVMaster which would require this to not be a problem I assume…

Any help would be wonderful! I am trying to finish this retopo soon!
