Retopolizing problem

Hi,

I have problems retopolizing this little cute sheep. I wanna change the topology around the nose. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Here is what I do:

  1. I clone my sheep tool, go to level 1 and switch back to my original tool

  2. I go to the last subdiv level (5), select a ZSphere, go to Rigging, select my high level sheep tool, go to Topology, select my level 1 sheep tool and click edit topology

  3. Now I am not changing anything in the topology. I simply click Preview and of course all my sculpted detail is lost (image 3). So I enable Projection and hit Preview again, make sure that Adaptive Skin divisions is set to 4 or 5. This is what I get (image 4)

  4. Changing the projection amount from 1 to -1 doesn’t help (image 5)

Is it even possible to change the topology at level 1 after sculpting the tool in several subdivision levels?

you need to change the settings in the project panel.

you can also try a project all in the subtool panel…that usually gets better results…in my opinion.

Subtool Projectall is more controlable than topo projection. make your low poly adaptive skin. then append it with your high. after that use subdivide your low poly a few times base on how many polys your high res are. then while everything is showing, select your low and hit projectall in the subtool… it will project ur subdivided low to high.

ProjectAll in the subtool palette did the job  Thank you for your help.
