Retain Texture sample resolution..best method?

Hi guys,
What is the best approach to retain resolution from a texture sample/image?

Poly paint/pixel painting with your mesh subdivided to your PC’s max limit or Projection mast/zapplink texture painting?

I would imagine texture painting.

  • in reference to projecting a frontal face image taken with my SLR/downloaded, whatever, onto a face mesh:

  • What is the relationship between my source image to texture with, my canvas size and my texture map size when dealing with Zapplink and photoshop?

  • before going into zapplink goto a high sub level?

  • make sure your canvas is on 100% scale before going into Zapplink.

  • when in photoshop, Delete the edges of the image being projected onto the “face” if it reaches the edge of the mesh.

  • is it best to do little bits at a time then project the whole front and side?

  • I noticed if one models in perspective (to mach the fact that your source image has perspective) then go into your orthographic view (hit p off) and then run Zapplink with perspective on and fade off seems to get the best result with little blur or loss of quality.

The big question is as briefly mentioned above… how does the document/canvas size come into play when going into Photoshop with Zapplink?

What is the relationship between your texture, the canvas and the source image to be projected.
