Resym part of a mesh? and other various question

Hi everyone,

I am working on a character that is going through a revision process. The character has an asymmetric head, but the arms are symetric. During a recent revision I worked on a hand on only 1 side of the mesh, I was wondering if there is a way to smartresym just this part of the mesh?
Also I am going to retopo this character (outside of zbrush-3ds max) and am going to add a pouch for the inside of the mouth, can I re-project details from the original sculpt onto the new polymodel even though it will have this additional geometry?

Thanks for any help!

Todd

  1. Mask off everything apart from the hand you want to update.

  2. Yes. You’ll need to make the mouth pouch into a polygroup so you can hide or mask it while you project, or else store a morph target and fix it afterwards.

Yes you can Smart Resym certain parts of your model by masking the off the parts you don’t want to change. Apply a mask to the center line as usual and after that mask off the head, click smart resym and you should be ok.

Concerning your retopo, i would import the mouth interior as a seperate subtool and merge it via the Subtool Master. Like this you won’t loose your Subdivision levels. But honestly, for best results i would do the retopo within ZB, to have full projection control.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the quick and helpful responses guys! :+1: I’ll let you know how I make out.
