I was thibnking over this character, and I was thinking that it would fit perfectly into any Japanese horror game. Although I think it’s too obvious, I’m training my eyes and mind, to be more open. So, keep on the work. I try to imagine how the Queen of a hive of such creatures would look…God…
Have to agree with Jester… Having an open mind is a good thing and as for this Reproductor… well I still have some mixed emotions about da ding dong and that´s a shame since I think it distracts from an otherwise interesting creature.
The two things I like most about it are it´s bird like head and the pose of the character. And yeah… you did a good piece of art since I somehow return looking at it trying to somehow accept it´s existance. And having seen it a couple of times…well let´s say you get used to seeing things
Won´t be as easy to shock me in the future… so you better come up with something stronger the next time!

ok man I’ve been back to this thread about twenty times looking at him. It has such life to him and it just tells such a story on its own. You know I would pay to have this printed. I would love to have it on my desk. How far in detail did you go before you posed him? Did you pose him in zbrush using transpose?
I can’t wait for your next model. Hope your working on something already.

@bradjames: Ahahha I would see him printed as well, I’m following some interesting thread about that here on zbc, I don’t know if there is something similar in Italy, hope so! I posed him in zbrush with transposè, very easy tool once u get into it! I did it late in the modeling process, not really at the end but once the major details were there, this way I could work on those areas where the skin gets compressed or stretched for the pose and add a bit more of realism to the forms.
Anyway I already have some ideas for the next puppet…and have to thank u all because for me this thread means “do more, do better” and most importantly “do what u have in your mind, just have fun”. Couldn’t be happier!

The peice actually reminds me of some of Shinya Tsukamoto’s films(Tokyo Fist, Snake of June, Tetsuo). His films often contain themes of sexual inadequacy, and may disturb many “male” viewers. Clive Barker is also know to create horrific stories that delve into this subject matter(The Madonna). It is a very bold topic for horror and a very specific cerebral fear.
Your peice definatly provokes that feeling, whether or not that is it’s purpose. I find it to be a very successful peice of art.

@the_podman: Rod, your comment is very interesting, since I’m a very big fan of Tsukamoto’s movies ( I’m in love with all the japanese culture btw, in fact I’m so sick about japan that my degree is about japanese culture and language ). For sure I’ve been influenced by a lot of things like everyone, the disturbing relationship between love/sex/pain in tsukamoto’s movies maybe could be a piece of all that…for sure it is “Snake of June” was really disturbing about that but a great movie.

I just really didn’t know what to say the first time this image came up, because you can’t deny the level of skill. No matter how you slice it though, bizarre, mutated, cheapened sexuality is the focus of of the work even though I’m certain weeks if not months were spent sculpting the other 95% of the model and it’s a shame.
