Rendering problem - no smoothing :O

Hi guys  I am checking Zbrush after 8 years again :D. And I have a problem with rendering. It doesn’t smooth the polygon topology so it looks really strange… This is the “best render” with shadows:

Any idea? Thanks a lot for your help.

Here is the illustration picture:

Hi levius.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think ZB has ever had a ‘render smooth’ option.

You get ‘smoothness’ by using subdivision until the poly’ count on your
mesh is high enough to hide the edges.

Hi Grey, thanks for reply. Actually I am pretty sure it should be smooth. I remember from previous versions that it should look nice and smooth as a clay.

If I subdivide it there will be just more small squares. This happen in other software if the “smoothing groups” are turned off. I think it has something to do with normals. Its about the way that software represents the polygons.

Maybe its something with my graphic card?

Set Tool>Display Properties>DSmooth to 1. Then turn off Transform>Quick.

In older versions of ZBrush, Quick was turned off by default. But it makes more sense to have it on by default since that’s the way you’re going to initially be working with the model. Now you only need to change the setting once, at the end of your work.

Thanks a lot Aurick, that helped a lot
