Rendering normal maps in Mental Ray for Maya 2011

Hey all, I’ve been using Mental Ray for Maya 2011 to try and render a normal map on a mesh but for some reason keeps crashing, resulting in a message similar to “Attempting to save backup…” and then closing the program.

Has anyone else come across this? Would really like to get this ironed out if possible, its a real pain :confused:

Any suggestions? This has been happening for a while, I’d really like to find some kind of fix for it. :slight_smile:

try saving the map as a difrent format sometime maya has problems when using file types for certain things.
