rendering matcap in modo ?

hi

i really like the look of matcap gorilla but i would like to render my model in modo
so the question is is there any way to somehow bake the mat cap into my model without any lighting info & without loosing the properties of the matcap
for when i turned the light off to render, well i lost all detail naturally

thanks for taking the time

baking will certainly not work, as there is lighting already baked in. The backside has no (own) shading with matcaps. But you could try to write a realtime version of the matcap which shdnt be too hard really.

I’ve had some success replicating/creating Matcaps in Modo302 by placing gradients set to incidence angle on my objects, usually a ball to start with. You just have to play with the gradients for a bit. Modos interactive preview render is fast and accurate so it may not take to long to do.
Good luck.
