I’m struggling a bit, but I hope that you guys might be able to help me past a hurdle. I render in Cinema 4D or Keyshot. When I try to export maps (texture, normal, etc.) I lose an incredible amount of detail. The renders look pretty muddy. The renders I see posted here typically don’t seem to have this problem. My models aren’t used for gaming, or animation so I don’t think polycount is that much of an issue. What process should I be using to keep the detail? Is there a good tutorial out there on the process to get the best renders?
can you show an example of your problem?
Here is an example. I’m following a texturing tutorial for this. The only changes I’m making are to the texture, but other than that I’m following the tutorial in every way. Still, my maps seem muddy and not blended well; and the normal maps don’t seem to capture the texture of the skins very well. I know it’s something i’m doing, but not sure what to change. This is not completely textured but is good enough to show you what I mean.

that looks to me more like an issue with your materials rather than your textures.
It definitely could be. I’ve tried to mess around with specularity a little which help, but still doesn’t seem to capture the detail that I see posted here. I’ll keep working on it and looking for tutorials where I can. Thanks for the response.
