Rendering for printing (please help)

I need to print an image at 6000 X 4800, I know if I AAhalf I have to double the size but Zbrush won’t let me go much higher than 8000 x 6000. Is there a way to increase the document size Zbrush will allow?

Also, when the document size is really high like that it becomes extremely hard to judge the placement of my model because its so zoomed in. Is there a way to zoom out when in a large document size?

When you say you need to print at 6000 X 4800, what print resolution is that? That will affect whether you need AA Half or not.

Anyhow, the maximum document size in ZBrush can’t be altered, though you might be able to produce a larger image in one or more pieces, depending on what you are trying to do.

The document Zoom (Zoom>Zoom Doc) will show all of the canvas if you adjust it sufficiently.

There is actually a trick that will allow you to increase the ZBrush document size beyond 8096*8096.

  1. Create and save a new .psd file from photoshop with the document size you need.
  2. In ZBrush press Texture > Import and select the .psd file.
  3. Press Texture > CropAndFill.
  4. Press Ctrl + N to clear the canvas.

The zbrush document will now be the same size as the .psd file. Needless to say these large document sizes are probably not supported so do not expect zbrush to remain stable, i.e save often.

I’ve tried this with a 7016*9921 image (A3 at 600 DPI, which is DPI overkill:)) and apart from slow performance when drawing tools and undoing, it worked fine.

But as Marcus hinted at, you might not need such a large document. It all depends on your print size and the print resolution.

Hey thanks for the replies, im just gonna render at max doc size and use genuine fractals plugin for photoshop to increase it.
