Rendering a jewel in ZBRUSH

Hi
Is it possible to render jewels in Zbrush?
I have tried transparency feature but couldn’t get anything to look transparent.
Don’t know what I was doing wrong.

I use Matcap Silver to render silver jewelry and it does the job.
Now I need to render some faceted jewels.
Could someone help me out with this?
Thanks

tool.display properties.bpr settings

render.brp settings

turn on transparency in both of these areas.

Side note though, Zbrush doesn’t do refraction.

Thanks
It works now.
However it doesn’t look like I can render a decent looking jewel.
I can render jewel or entire ring using other rendering program but I like the way ZB renders silver.
Next step is probably to composite two renderings or perhaps there is some other way.
Any advice on that?
Thanks

You can do what you’re trying to do, but it will be difficult as Zbrush doesn’t use an actual camera, so matching the two renders together will be challenging. What software are you rendering in besides Zbrush?

My other programs are Rhino and Flamingo.
In Flamingo I can render a decent jewel the problem however is rendering a silver piece
which looks like tarnished in cavities similar to MatCap Silver in ZB. The file is attached.
May by different HDR for Flamingo? I have tried all available but they don’t produce good results.

Thanks for helping.

I have no experience with flamingo so I won’t really be much help there. I would try to match the material that you’re using in Z to one that you build in flamingo.

Here is something you can try if you like ZBrush MatCaps but want to render them in another app.
