Render: Self Shadowing

I’ve been messing around with the light and render settings for a couple hours now, checking out the wiki and searching for tutorials, but can’t seem to find a way to get an object to cast a shadow on itself. Is this possible in Zbrush?

only with standard shaders.
if you’re using matcaps then it’s actually faking any indication of a light source across the model.

I figured that… so I was only using standards. Still no luck. Does anyone know of a good tutorial?

off the bat…nope.
you’ll need to mess with the settings inside of light>shadow
turning Zmode off will give you immediate results but you’ll want to play with that either way.

This is faking it again though
