When I save a tool out, it uses the currently selected Subtool as the root and renames that subtool to whatever it is I name the .ztl I’m trying to save. Example: Character with a jacket subtool. I have the jacket subtool selected and save tool as Character_RevisionB. This then changes the name of my jacket subtool from Jacket to Character_RevisionB. Is there any way to keep that from happening? I’d like the subtool naming conventions to stay intact, instead of having to go back and rename it to what it was formerly before the save. My current workaround is to select my root subtool, the characters body in my example, and save that way. I’d like to be able to have any subtool selected and save without it renaming that particular subtool. Is that possible?
Annoying…
One way would be to create a custom SAVE button that automates your work-around - i.e. moves to subtool 0, then pops up the save tool dialog, then after saving, reselects the original subtool.
The button could probably be made part of the tool menu or a separate plugin button that you would drag to a convenient place on your custom UI.
Or, you could check out the QuickSave plugin which already does that.

yeah. real annoying. i ultimately just give up and name everything the same. which at times activates what i assume is a bug where once a subtool was named ’ X ’ and i go to another subtool. save it as ’ X ’ to maintain the same file. return to that first subtool later and attempt to save and it’s renamed it ’ X#1 ’ or something
subtools need a serious overhaul in the next release in my opinion. as they are now they’re a workflow halting clumsy mess
