Hi guys,
Is there any way to remove/unload all the textures/alphas that have been importing and now are just taking memory and making a mess out of zbrush?
cheers

Initializing ZBrush or compacting memory will reclaim the memory allocated but the thumbnails will remain in the palettes. You can reduce the number that show in the palettes by pressing ‘R’ but they’ll still be in the popup selection.
thanks marcus
I don’t want to initialize zbrush again, also the file im working with at the moment gets so big that is impossible for zbrush to re-open it, i guess is a bug? the file is 4.1 Gig and everytime I try to open in, no matter what computer I use, zbrush won’t allow me to…
Blimey, that’s a large file. Make sure none of the mesh is hidden when you save as that can cause problems. Also if anything is masked the file will be larger, so clearing masks can save disk space. Saving at the highest subdivision levels may give a smaller file size too.
Not sure what else to suggest, apart from breaking up the mesh in various ways - I imagine that’s a lot of subtools?
the mesh is already split in subtools, around 10 subtools, each of them around 3-8 milion polys…i tihnk overall is nearly 50 milion polygons…so should i save the file with all the subtools shown and at their highest level?
I’d try that, though the critical thing is partial mesh visibility, not whether the subtools are on or off. Do you mean 410 MB? 4.1 GB is huge for 50 million polys, unless you’ve got lots of layers for each subtool.
