Is there a way to get rid of a few of the tools that I have loaded into zbrush without having to reinitialize the whole zbrush? It’s kind of using a lot of mem, and it’s a pain to re-import brushes/tools/settings that I need everytime I want to get rid of the tools. It would be nice to be able to right click on a tool and say “remove”. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I know that if you hit the little “R” button (Restore Configuration) in the Tools pallet, it will clear out everything except the currently active tool from the pallet. I don’t know if this frees up RAM, but it cleans things up UI wise. Perhaps if you do this then go Preferences>Mem>Compact Now, it will do what you want. That’s just a guess, give it a shot.

I would like to know about this also.
Any ideas Aurick? Short of re-initializing ZBrush (and thus losing various settings in the process).
Thanks for the responses. The R button removes it from the view, but the tools are still there. And the zbrush memory usage is rising. And the compact now function doesn’t do much when you still have all the tools loaded… It would be nice to have some kinda “unload tool” function in the future.
usually by this point its a good time to save your model and just restart the whole program, at least that’s what i do.
hopefully in z4 this will be addressed.
Yes, that 's what I do. but it shouldn’t be that way. If I open up zbrush and open three big files that I need to work with/append between, I have to save the file and restart zbrush to actually be able to work on the tool without slowing down. It just makes little sense(and I have 8 gigs of ram)
