Remove Filled Material (answered)

Hi. I have an older model that is polypainted (mrgb). I want to take the head for a new model and remove all mrgb info from it. When I sculpt I find the default colorize behavior useful. For all the skin pieces, I turn on colorize so that they are not “grayed out”, while armor and clothing are. I can then mess around with materials and colors and all subtools are changed, but the skin stays “highlighted”. Is it possible to return the mrgb painted head to this default state?

One thing I could do is delete all my subd levels on the head and use GoZ or some other export/import, but then I lose my subd levels.

export out the highest level subD and the lowest.
make sure polypaint information isn’t preserved during the export. (in the export options).

start work on a new import.
grab the lowest subD and import it.
subD up to the same level the highest subD level is.
import in the HP obj you exported.

you should be all set now.
you can import that object into the other one.

if all you need to do is remove the M that is applied to an object simply apply the flat shader to the object.

Thanks goast666. Real quick and easy with the export/import. I’m up and running.

I don’t understand “apply the flat shader to the object.” The only place I know where to modify a shader is under Material (Material > Modifiers, for example). But then I would need to apply the material to the object for it to take effect, so I don’t know what that buys me. I think I’m missing something.

If you fill your model with the Flat Color material it is returned to its default state and will take on the selected material.

Ah, I see. Thanks a bunch Marcus.
