Remesh problems

Hi,

I have a mesh (character sculpt) and I want to remove a limb. I think the best way is by using remesh and Boolean operators. Anyway pretty keen to try Boolean in ZBrush.

But i keep getting this message…

‘Creating a 3D mesh from the currently selected tool and skinning-modifiers will produce a mesh with zero number of vertices and polygons’

I always get the message above. You help is greatly apprciated.

Remesh works on visible subtools. You have your main mesh hidden, it’s only visible in the viewport because you have it selected but it’s ‘visibility eye’ is off.

As for removing part of a tool you can always just select and hide the part(s) you want to delete and then use ‘delete hidden’.

Hth,

Sam

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate the help from yourself and other members.

I can remove parts of the mesh as you suggested, but I am after a nice closed shape on the end of the arm.

Hiding - as you suggested leaves a hole in the mesh.

Also i did as you said and even with the eye symbol on I get same message.

Gotcha, and using the ‘close hole’ option in the geometry pane closes it but doesn’t give the best resulting geometry.

I wonder if your issue has something to do with the tool not showing in the preview window? … in neither of your pics is the tool actually visible in the sub-tool preview…

Maybe check the preview window and/or see if using S. Pivot and making sure the two subtools are in the same space might help… 'cause as it looks from the preview images your trying to subtract the sphere from nothing…

Also, maybe check to make sure part of the main subtool isn’t hidden?

Just guessing… Good luck,

Sam

will muddle through on this one without it…been suck for a while.
thanks for your help. more than one way to skin a cat of course so will try another method.

thanks again
