Hi Ambient
Little trick
You can mix your color in a part of your Canvas (in a corner for example)
take one color paint it in a new zone, take another one or many : mix it !
When you repaint on the subject you have the new color
It’s very rustic but like in the real life
And you can take the palett Knife for a more mixed result
Pilou
Ps Cool try
Hey Frenchy … 6-7 red stars … 6-7 orange dots … is that like 8,000,000 forum posts or something ?
Frenchy Pilou and I both registered here in February 2002, not quite the same post count though. ^^
I just tried ArtRage it’s a very nice software but I get frustrated when I use this kind of minimalist software. I like options everywhere!
Hi Dan
It’s nothing
I you are interested by statistic you can find it in each left bottom post
Hope this help
Pilou
Hi Codexus
If options should be everywhere, it will be Photoshop and not ArtRage
So here it’s a sort of “dogma”
This has a certain charm
Less is beautiful, more is superfluous
Pilou Dogmatician
what i just learned is… you can make an image with just colours on the side… then import that as tracing paper, and have auto pick colours.
AW … don’t be offusqued, but, I prefer your 3d models…
nah. that was just a quickie.
its really hard to paint in a more traditional style ( havent worked with oil paints in over 6 years now )
personally i like my sketches more than my 3d
oo btw. an update to what i said before about the tracing paper it dun work.
doh
you can with artrage … import tracing paper and where you pick your pencil it will choose the color picked on the trace paper.
and you can at the up of your page on the white zone do your color mix.

Painting is absolut different from 3D
You can’t compare it
3D is dry, painting is wet
And this thread is named “relaxing”
Pilou
Ps I have seen that you well known the functionnement of ArtRage
A little try ?
Allez, tous les styles sont permis !
Et les pots de peintures sont inépuisables
It’s very good the try of Ambient
Nothing different Pilou… 2d or 3d are only the media witch interprete your vision.
only some are finding the way for 2D interpretation of the space more easy and other by the 3D way…
and another… nothing… prefer to eat hamburger and drink a beer…
Otherwise about relaxation we have not the same view of that concept… copying something do by another by using a trace paper function in 3 mn is not my form of relaxation.
Finally, yes I will try to practice painting I must to improve myself in that non-familiar stuff.
whatever the case … my spider and snake painting … was the best and most relaxing
nope the tracing paper method doesnt work for picking colours. because it also pics white( empty space ) from the tracing paper.
so no matter what… you cant use the tracing paper to just pick your colours so you can paint on another part of the image… because when you then paint on another part of the image… itll still want to pick the colour of the empty space of the tracing paper ( in this case white ).
hi Ambient
Here the method
Load a tracing paper (a masterpiece is better
Show the tracing paper
Paint (you obtain the color of the masterpiece under )
Disable “Choose Color Automacticly”
Choose a color in the palette
Draw on the first paint : mix it
You have a new color than you can paint anywhere since "Choose color automacticly "is disable
And if “Auto clean” is enable too, you will keep this new color at each “touch and down”
All is possible
The Enable / Disable “Choose Color Automacticly” is a “deconnection” of the master piece (tracing paper)
It’s a pity that is no Shortcut for this !
Auto clean disable permit to make decrease mixing! Last mixing is keeping over and over !
So now all colors can be create and paint anywhere
Rustic but efficient
Pilou
ps It’s very simulating for the brain to find some trick
yes AW, you can, I tested before answer you…
Finding the time to relax is the challenge

nice. i emailed matt from ambient-design about art rage, and he replied that they will give in and add some way of either choosing or saving colours in the next version of artrage. yey
