wirklich krasse arbeit… ich sehe da stunden und stunden und tage über tage an arbeit. sehr beeindruckend.
woher hast du vorlagen? und ist das ne kommerzielle arbeit?

edit: war ich zu langsam ^^

No, it was a private work. And yes, it took me very long :stuck_out_tongue:

Genial! Zsketch für die fassungen?

…true gems :sunglasses:

All the wire work was roughly made in 3ds Max and then detailed in Zbrush. I haven’t made myself familiar with creating meshes only in Zbrush yet.

i guess the irony is that the crafts people whom made the original were trying to attain perfection and centuries later we strive for imperfection…

its an intriguing piece

btw, I was thinking you could of used the armature brush with zspheres 2 for the fastenings of the jewels.

looking at it again I have to say what Im most impressed with is that youve kept all the insciptions in place, especially the big inscription on the bridge and they`re correct… this is seriously sweet piece of research  totally top row I have to agree!

This is some crazy stuff!!

hehe, thank you!

Did you use ZSketch at all?

Paul

Nope :stuck_out_tongue:

couple of detail shots again:

Truly a phenomenal piece of work. I love careful reconstruction, you can learn so much from it.

Well done, this is truly an original / different kind of piece executed beautifully, and I love how you made all the irregularities etc. to add that much more realism to what this looked like in Real Life.

And those renders are just amazing!
Top Row should just be a matter of time I hope!

Probably requires some strange looking ogre wearing it…

 Lemo

Thats amazing detail! Very nice work

Such incredibly beautiful creations. Man, I want to touch them  :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Very impressive (and beautiful)! Would love to see a “making of” of this piece! Top Row imho! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: !

Really incredible detail, looks “hyper-real” in those renders.

Since I was kindly asked to, I'm gonna start a little tutorial of how I made certain things. I'm starting with the workflow of the plates and the wire fittings: As I said before, I did all the base meshes in 3DS Max. [<!---->](http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27182002%27,%27001.jpg%27,1,0%29) I made the plates as regular hinged objects and subdivided them in Max using smoothing groups. [<!---->](http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27182003%27,%27002.jpg%27,1,0%29) I futher subdivided it in Zbrush and applied a foto of the original plate upon it via Applink. I compared the model's outer contours to the foto and made some changes to make it fit better. [<!---->](http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27182004%27,%27003.jpg%27,1,0%29) Then I masked out what would later be the holes for the stones and pearls to be lit from behind. I exported a lower subdivided mesh back to Max and retopologized the whole plate to have real mesh holes I can work with. [<!---->](http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27182005%27,%27004.jpg%27,1,0%29) _____________________________ [<!---->](http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27182006%27,%27005.jpg%27,1,0%29) This is basically how I made all of the wire fittings and frames and so on. I made some different types of fittings with various amounts of arms and different solutions for the pattern since the stones are different in size. I used AppLink quite often to check out how much my modeling resembles the reference fotos. I'll do some more within the next days. greets Henning/MacX

This is a stunning piece!! Im not sure why this isn’t on the top row:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
