Reference Painting...

Hello,

I’m currently working on a flat 2D painting using ZBrush 2.0.

I have a painting that I would like to copy (as an exercise), but would like to have the reference copy displayed within the ZBrush Canvas, so I can trace over the composition, use the colour picker, simulate the lighting effects etc…

Can someone please tell me the best way to achieve this ? I tried importing the document and turning it’s layer on/off, but I’ve run into problems with this. I’m sure there must be a better way.

One approach would be to fill a layer with the reference image, using a material that has the Transparency modifier. You would then do your work on another layer. In order to see through the reference layer, you would need to turn off Render>Flatten.

Cheers Matthew, that’s exactly what I wanted.

Many thanks for your help.
