Recreating subdivision levels

Hello, I want to use Zmapper on Zbrush 3.1. So I exported from Zbrush 3.5 the Higher suvdivision and Lower subdivision levels to 3.1. But I have no idea how to merge them like they were in Zbrush 3.5.

I’ve tried with “insert mesh” but it ends collapses both meshes into one, it doesn’t detect the division levels.

Any ideas?

  1. Export hi res and low res versions of your mesh from 3.5 as an OBJs.
  2. Import hi res into 3.1.
  3. Reconstruct the subdivision levels by pressing Tool>Geometry>Reconstruct Subdiv until the number of levels is the same as the original.
  4. Store a Morph Target (Tool>Morph Target>Store MT), then import the low res mesh into the lowest subdivision level. If your original low res mesh was created elsewhere then import that at this stage.
  5. Use ZMapper to generate normal maps, and/or generate displacement maps.
  6. Switch the morph target before moving back up the subdivision levels if you wnat to continue sculpting.

Thanks marcus, but when I click on Reconstruct Subdivision nothing happens.

You may need to Enable UVs in the Tool>Texture submenu.
