Recovering ZBrush Activation after hard drive wipe

I acquired a virus this week that necessitated a complete hard drive wipe–I booted from the Windows DVD and reformatted the drive, and then reinstalled Windows, and since I was already going to all that trouble, I upgraded to Windows 7 as well. The only problem is that now I can’t re-install my copy of ZBrush 3.5R2, because it is still activated on the old Vista installation that now no longer exists. The unfortunate thing is, even if I had remembered that I needed to deactivate ZBrush before reinstalling Windows, I wouldn’t have been able to do it, since the virus prevented me from running any application. :frowning:

Anyway… help! What do I need to do to deactivate the old ZBrush install? I still have my serial number (and the last activation code), as well as the downloaded zip of 3.5R2.

You could raise a support ticket.

Yep. I was hoping that there might be an established way to deal with situations like this, but you’re probably right. I’ll start a ticket.

You’ll most likely still be able to activate using your serial number. But your serial number will also need to be adjusted to compensate for the lost activation, so the support ticket is a good thing.

Something Very similar happened to mine too, and I said, “For now, I’ll use a 30 day trial,” but it still doesn’t work…
I have a windows 7 as well.

Please open a support ticket and provide a clear description of what’s happening. For example, which version it is, and the exact text of any error messages that you receive.
