Recovering texture changes from ZBrush

Im currently working with ZBrush to remove seams and make other alterations to existing textures. Im mainly working with the projection master.

I can get the textures exported out to photoshop okay, but Im having some trouble seperating the alterations Ive made in ZBrush from the existing texture.

Inside photoshop Ive placed the ZBrush texture over the photoshop texture, and set its layer to difference.
Using the colour picker I then select an unchanged part of the texture (black).
This doesnt yield a clean selection of the unchanged parts of the texture (UV seams and general noise are visible), and I always have to manually clean up the selection afterwards.

Is this a problem with the projection master, or am I not approaching this correctly?
