Reconstruct Subdiv

I have an object I GoZed from Maya. I want to lower the resolution. I tried to use Reconstruct Subdivs and it didn’t work. It says it is unable to reconstruct subdivs. Why would this happen? I need to lower it for using it as a game asset. Thanks.

Reconstruction only works if the current model is one that can be created by dividing another mesh. That means that it can’t have any triangles. Its polygon structure also has to be right.

For example, imagine a model made up of four quads in the shape of a “T”. There is no way to convert that to a single polygon that will divide into the “T” shape. So deconstruction wouldn’t be possible. More complex models face the same restrictions. Many shapes can be deconstructed, but some cannot.
