Re-topology of models?

Hi everyone. I have some questions in regards to topology. Why do people re- topology their models? In zbrush if you create something with z spheres doesn’t it maintain quads? So whats the best way to maintain quads? Do you create you’re base mesh in all quads before importing into z brush so that it maintains quads.? I guess what iIm asking is this i know quads are important for many things i just don’t understand why some one would need to re-topo their model.

Retopology is not necessary if you’re only working in ZBrush. It’s only needed if you’re going to be animating the model and so need specific edge flows to help with the deformations cause by animation.
